“And the 2010 PAI Musical Theater Production is………”



The Performing Arts Institute is proud to announce that the 2010 musical theater production will be Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I.

Starring in the role of the King of Siam will be distinguished guest artist, Forrest McClendon.

Forrest McClendon’s musical credits include the pre-Broadway workshop of Disney’s AIDA, DREAMGIRLS, BIG RIVER, FINIAN’S RAINBOW,THE FANTASTICKS, THE THREEPENNY OPERA and SHOW BOAT. Most recently, he received the 2009 Barrymore Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical for AVENUE X at the 11th Hour Theatre Company. This spring McClendon will appear Off-Broadway in the world premiere of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS,a new musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb directed by Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. McClendon is currently an adjunct assistant professor in the Ira Brind School of Theater at the University of the Arts and an artist-in-residence in the Boyer College of Music at Temple University. He has taught at Roger Williams University, DeSales University, Community College of Philadelphia, Choate Rosemary Hall, as well as the Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival. His students attend major training programs including the British American Dramatic Academy, New York University, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Boston University and Syracuse University, and many are working professionals on Broadway, TV and film, and/or as recording artists. McClendon has conducted master classes at thePerforming Arts Institute at Wyoming Seminary for the past three summers.
